Aisha Aliyu, a 20-year-old woman who married in December 2023, has been arrested for murdering her husband, Idris Ahmadu, in Nasarawa community, Lapai local government area of Niger State.
Aisha was said to have stabbed her husband in the chest and slit his throat.
According to witnesses, the bride and her husband had a fight on Sunday evening and were seen reconciling it.
Neighbours reported they heard Idris’ screams in the middle of the night and went into the house with his mother, meeting him as he attempted to exit the room while holding his neck before falling and dying.
The wife was claimed to have fled the scene before the others entered the home.
The Niger Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, verified the event and stated that efforts were underway to apprehend the fleeing culprit.
