2023 Isese Day: Ogun govt declares Monday public holiday

The annual Isese Day will be celebrated on Monday, August 21, 2023, according to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun proclamation.

Isese Day is set aside by adherents of traditional religions to honor Yoruba customs and culture.

In a statement released on Saturday by his chief press secretary, Lekan Adeniran, Governor Abiodun hailed the coexistence of all religious believers in Gateway State.

According to him, the decision to give Isese Day special recognition was made in order to uphold the tradition of the Ogun people and to maintain the state’s three main religions’ peace and harmony.

The state’s governor reaffirmed his commitment to upholding and respecting all major religions.

He also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fostering, preserving, and advancing our people’s culture and traditions.

While congratulating the adherents of traditional religion on the anniversary, he also advised them to rejoice in a dignified manner and refrain from actions that could endanger the state’s current tranquility.

State governments in Lagos, Oyo, and Osun have also proclaimed holidays in honor of the occasion.
