31 suspects arrested as Ondo Amotekun deploys personnel to Ekiti to combat insecurity
The Ondo State Security Network has deployed personnel to Ekiti State to aid in securing the release of kidnapped pupils and apprehending the abductors.
It stated that some arrests had been made in the pursuit of the abductors.
Akogun Adeleye Adetunji, Commander of the Ondo Amotekun Corps, stated that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had ordered the personnel’s deployment to Ekiti State.
The individuals arrested in Ekiti State are being investigated discreetly, according to Akogun Adeleye.
Adeleye stated as he showcased 31 suspects detained for various criminal acts in 18 local government areas.
He warned hunters from other parts of the country to notify appropriate authorities before entering the forest to hunt animals.
The Ondo Amotekun Commander stated that the solution to escalating insecurity across the country was the establishment of State police.
He said it has been tough for Amotekun operatives to penetrate into states such as Edo and Kogi to apprehend suspects and kidnappers due to a lack of cooperation.
He said:
“There is decline in kidnapping activities in the state. Security agencies will not relent until the last kidnapper has been sent away.
“The Governor directed we move to assist in the security situation in Ekiti State. We deployed 100 personnel and seen arrest have been made. We will continue until the criminals are arrested.
“There is sudden upsurge of visitors to the state in the name of hunting. The state government has demanded approval must be sought before entering the forest. As a Nigerian, you can go anywhere in the country but you have to follow laid down resolution.”
