$360m was released for Ogoni clean-up – FG

According to the Federal Government, $360 million has been spent on cleaning up the Niger Delta’s polluted Ogoni territory.

This was recently revealed by the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project Coordinator, Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey, after a four-day visit of the project sites that had been cleaned up in the Ogoni local governments of River State.

He claimed that attempts to rebuild the Ogoni people’s way of life after oil spills have begun to show results.

“We are also mandated to restore the livelihoods of the people. I know that the board of trustees has released about $360,000,000. We have not exhausted that amount. We are still paying the contractors”, he stated.
