Body of missing 16yr-old girl recovered from Well in Jigawa

A 16-year-old girl’s body was dumped inside a well in Ringim Local Government, Jigawa State.

According to a victim’s relative who requested anonymity and spoke to Platinum Times, the event took place in Beguwa village last Saturday.

He claimed that the deceased was reported missing at first before her body was found on Wednesday, four days after the tragedy, when some farmers passing by the field noticed a strange odor.

He claimed that Islamic rights were able to remove and bury the body with the aid of the fire department, security guards, and good samaritans.

He said that the deceased was the victim of a group rape by her lover and his buddies, who then dumped her body in a well outside the village.

He urged civil society organizations and the Jigawa State Government to keep an eye on the situation and see that justice is served.

DSP. Lawan Shiisu Adam, the state command’s director of police public relations, verified the event to DAILY POST.

According to him, the body of the missing girl was reportedly found in a well outside the Ringim village of Beguwa.

He said that the primary suspect, who had previously been seen with the deceased at a wedding before she was reported missing, had been apprehended as a result of the investigation.

Shiisu stated that more information about the occurrence will be released later while the issue is still being investigated.

A civil society organization focused on gender-based violence and other violations of human rights, led by Maryam Ibrahim and Zainab Salisu, responded to claims made about plans to carpet the case by some people by pledging to pursue the matter to a local resolution.
