Gov Sani expresses concerns over ethnicity diversity, religion in Kaduna

On Wednesday, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani expressed worry about the state’s ethnic and religious conflicts.

He also bemoaned the way religion and ethnicity were used to judge every government decision or inaction.

He said, “I manage a state where emotions run high at the slightest provocation or perception of injustice; the people are captives of their past, a past marked by incessant conflicts, bloodletting, hate, and distrust.” He was speaking at a one-day reflection meeting on Kaduna’s direction on peacebuilding, which was organized by the Kaduna Peace Commission in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The Governor claims that while there have been ethnic and religious confrontations in the State, they have not been as intense as they once were and that there is still concern of an escalation.
