Demolition: Rivers govt orders closure of AIT, Raypower activities

Africa Independent Television, AIT, and Raypower FM activities in Port Harcourt have been shut down by the Rivers State Government.

On Sunday, the media outlet reported on its official X that the State Government had suspended activities using contracted telecoms engineers and armed security personnel.

“The contractors disconnected the wave guard from the antenna on the mast while riggers were seen dismantling the mast.

“Also, bulldozers were deployed to demolish the Transmitter Complex at DAAR Communications PLC Broadcast Centre,” it said.

An official from the telecom contractor said to the group that they were working on a command from above to start the demolition on Sunday.

According to Platinum Times, the State government gave DAAR Communication Plc. a 48-hour notice to leave in March, claiming that the location had been planned out for GRA phase 5 Ozuoba.
