Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Fed. Constituency: Tribunal sacks LP Rep Member, declares Cornelius Nnaji of PDP winner

The return of Prof. Sunday Nnamchi of the Labour Party to the House of Representatives for the Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency in Enugu State has been declared invalid by the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, which is presiding in Enugu.
Prince Cornelius Nnaji, a candidate for the People’s Democratic Party, submitted a case, and a three-judge panel chaired by A. M. Abubakar issued a ruling declaring the petitioner to be the legitimate winner of the election held on February 25, 2023.
A one-term federal senator named Prince Nnaji had contested the Independent National Electoral Commission’s proclamation of Nnamchi as the election’s victor, arguing that the respondent lacked the necessary sponsorship and qualifications to run as the Labour Party’s candidate.
The panel unanimously decided that the petitioner was correct that the Labour Party candidate lacked the necessary qualifications to run for office.
