Nigerians needs quick change – Abdulsalami tells Tinubu

Abdulsalami Abubakar, a former head of state, has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration that Nigerians need swift change.

When Mohammed Idris, the minister of information and national orientation, paid courtesy visits to him and another former head of state, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on Sunday, the former head of state made this statement.

The Minister stated that elder visits are a part of Nigeria’s traditional legacy when visiting the homes of the two leaders.

The minister said that this nation will continue to value the fatherly role they have played over the years.

He also let them know that President Tinubu was determined to put Nigeria back on the path to glory.

Abdulsalami congratulated both the Hon. Minister on his appointment and President Tinubu’s administration on reaching 100 days in office.

“The information portfolio is a tough job, having to market the image of government at a difficult time,” the former Head of State said.

“The government faced a very difficult situation and inherited many challenges with the economy, fuel subsidies, and security.

“Nigerians, as a people want changes to happen quickly. So, my message to them is they should join hands with the government to overcome these challenges.”

The Minister, responding to questions from the media, added,

“President Tinubu is always talking about using our diversity for prosperity, and that is the message the elder statesmen also echoed here.

“Nigeria is a very diverse country, and we should use that diversity positively for the progress and development of our dear nation.”
