We cannot leave Lake Chad to terrorists – MNJTF Commander says

Major General Gold Chibuisi, the force commander of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), has stated that terrorists cannot be allowed to rule and function from Lake Chad Island, stating his commitment to purge the island of any remaining criminal elements.
The pledge was given by the Force Commander on Friday during operational visits to sectors 1 and 2 of the Chad Republic, Bagasola and Bibi in Blangoua, Cameroon.
Maj. Gen. Chibuisi urged troops under the Task Force to remain steadfast in their support of the operation to consolidate recent gains made during Operation Lake Sanity, which has significantly reduced Boko Haram’s capacity to plan and operate in the Lake Chad Islands known as “Tumbus.” Maj. Gen. Chibuisi stated that the purpose of the visit was to assess the nautical capacity of MNJTF.
In keeping with current efforts to combat terrorism and insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin, the operational tour to Cameroon and Chad comes a day after a similar visit to Mallam-Fatori in Nigeria, Diffa, and Bosso in Niger Republic.
Security experts believed that the MNJTF had played a significant role in establishing security and peace in the area.
