Just In: Nigerians to experience darkness as National grid collapses again
The National Grid has collapsed for the second time in a week.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) manages the country’s collapsed national grid, which supplies power across the country.
As of 12:00 noon today, only Delta Power’s 41.00MW plant was operational on the National Grid, while Afam had 1.7MW.
Power generation had peaked at 3,594.60 megawatts (MW) as of 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, just 5 days after the previous collapse.
Remember that the system fell last Thursday, and the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, blamed it on a fire breakout. The cause of today’s collapse, however, has yet to be revealed.
As of the time of publishing this report, power generation has plummeted from a peak of 3,594.60 MW to a meager 42.7 MW.
