(Edo) Crises deepen as Gov Obaseki designates Shaibu’s office for Alaghodaro annual summit
The conflict between Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, has deepened, with the office he vacated being designated as the Secretariat for the annual Alaghodaro summit.
According to a source in the deputy governor’s office, Obaseki instructed the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie, in a leaked memo to allot the Deputy Governor’s office building to the Trustees of the Alaghodaro Summit as their Secretariat.
It was learned that the Chairman, through the Secretary, had requested a permanent secretariat building to aid in planning and logistics for the Alaghodaro Summit in 2023.
According to the leaked memo, the office space closest to the summit venue was formerly occupied by Shaibu and should be assigned to the Alaghodaro Summit Board of Trustees.
The Summit, which will take place in the second week of November this year, would draw potential investors from throughout Nigeria, according to a Government House source who works with the Trustees.
The insider also mentioned how important it is for the trustees to have their Secretariat close to the Summit venue.
The leaked document is dated September 18th, 2023. According to Governor Obaseki, the allotment is effective immediately.
