Tribunal verdict: Kano govt relaxes 24-hrs curfew

The Kano State Police Command has relaxed the city’s 24-hour curfew.

This is in response to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s request to security officials to lift the dusk-to-dawn restrictions.

The state government enforced the 24-hour curfew in collaboration with the police shortly after the State Governorship Elections Tribunal ruled that Governor Yusuf’s election was invalid.

The curfew was lifted, according to a statement signed by the State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

Platinum Times reported that vehicular traffic on the state’s principal roads has since resumed, and shops and street hawkers had reopened despite the late hour.
