Panic as UNIZIK management sacks three lecturers, suspend 15 others

Tension has seized Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra state, after a committee recommended the dismissal, suspension, and expulsion of more than 14 people, including staff and students, for various offenses.
A priest and three lecturers are among those accused, with further pupils facing expulsion for offenses such as aiding and abetting.
This information was announced in a formal release signed by Dr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Vice Chancellor’s Special Adviser for Public Relations and Special Duties, and distributed to journalists in Awka on September 24.
Remember that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, has been dealing with a huge problem involving sexual harassment, extortion, and other offenses at the University.
Three teachers were charged with extorting money from students who successfully completed their courses and enlisting the help of other pupils to carry out these heinous deeds.
“The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has taken disciplinary actions against the following staff and students for various offences.
“Principal Executive Officer 11, abandoned his duty post for a considerable length of time. As a result, he was indicted for gross misconduct and suspended from duty for six months to serve as a deterrent to other officers.
“Senior Executive Officer was indicted for fraudulent financial transaction concerning the University. She was suspended for six months on half salary” the Varsity said
After accepting gratification from pupils, the Reverend priest and another were both charged of assisting and abetting examination malpractice.
One of the teachers was charged with removing and graduating a student with 12 exceptional courses.
The tribunal suggested that he be ejected from the University, that the result be retracted, and that no additional credentials, such as certificates and transcripts, be granted.
