Two female armor traffickers apprehended by DSS with 1,000 rounds of ammunition (photo)
According to reports, Department of State Services (DSS) agents detained two ladies who were allegedly providing weapons and ammunition to bandits in Kaduna, Niger, and surrounding areas.
Rashida Umar and Rukaiya Ladan, two suspects, were apprehended in Fadan-Karshe, Sanga Local Government Area in Kaduna south region.
The DSS operatives were believed to have captured the two women in Kontagora Town, Niger State, who were passing ammo to suspected bandits.
Our correspondent was informed by a security source that the suspects were captured carrying 1,000 live rounds of AK-47 ammo.
Only five days had passed since Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) forces discovered a weapons manufacturing facility in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government in Southern Kaduna.
Following a week-long intelligence operation that eventually resulted in the detention of OPSH-listed wanted gunrunner Napoleon John, the discovery was made.
The suspect who admitted to the crime led the troops to a secret factory where Monday Dunia, another miscreant who admitted to having been in the business for more than five years and causing the crisis in Southern Kaduna and neighboring Plateau State, was selling weapons of various calibres.
22 different weapons, including 7 pistols, 2 locally made AK 47 rifles, 2 military-grade AK 47 rifles, and 9 revolvers, were found after a comprehensive investigation of the business.
