63rd Independence Day: FG declares Monday Oct 2nd public holiday

The Federal Government has proclaimed Monday, October 2, 2023, as national holiday to commemorate the Nation’s 63rd anniversary of independence.

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, congratulated all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, after making the announcement in Abuja.

Dr. Olubunmi told Nigerians that the government would continue to work hard to address the issues affecting the nation.

It is now well acknowledged that challenging socioeconomic and security concerns exist everywhere, and Nigeria is not an outlier in this regard.

However, the Minister underlined that the Government is making daily efforts to meet these numerous and varied challenges with all the might at its disposal till relief comes our way.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed that if we all work together in unison, we can achieve Nigeria’s preeminent position in the community of nations and the glory that lies ahead for the nation.

Dr Olubunmi stated that

“our warm welcoming spirit and love as well as our unbounded human capital and the richness of our land makes Nigeria unarguably the leading black Nation in the World being Africa’s pride and beacon of hope for the Renewed Hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”

While wishing people a great Independence Day, the Minister recalls that our founding ancestors joined together for Nigeria’s freedom, which we enjoy today, despite differences in Faith, Tribe, and Tongue.

As a worthy tribute to our heroes of the past, the Minister stated that his administration, through the Renew Hope Agenda, will deliver a better Nigeria for all citizens.
