An Access Bank property in Oyo has reportedly been sealed by the government due to non-payment of state taxes, according to reports.
Platinum Times learned that the action was taken as a result of non-compliance with the payment of revenue to the state government coffers by the enforcement team of the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, led by the Director, Land Use Charge, Esv. Olufisayo Ogunbiyi, during an enforcement tour around the city of Ibadan.
Before the enforcement team visited them, Land Use Charge, the commercial banks, and the telecoms companies reportedly received notices.
He promised that their premises will be opened for business after they had paid the appropriate Land use fee.
He said that because the Oyo State Government has zero tolerance for non-compliance with its rules, all company owners should make sure to pay fees to the state government account to prevent the disruption of their operations while the exercise is still in progress.
The Director of Land Use Charge also urged state people to send questions to the Ministry via email at lands@oyostate.gov.ng or by calling 0700 OYO LANDS (070069652637).
While people can make an online payment by downloading the Oyo State Property Reference System (OYPRS) through the Google Play Store or App Store, which will identify the building/property and land use charge outstanding, rate payers can also pay land use charges by visiting pay.lands.oyostate.gov.ng.
Land officers and members of Private Networks Nigeria Ltd, the IGR Consultant for the Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, were on the team that went out for the enforcement.
The bank’s customers have reportedly reported access issues to its facilities in the state ever since the event, according to Platinum Times.
A client who identified himself only as Mr. Taiwo told our correspondent, “As you can see I can’t enter the bank to perform any transactions, all my funds are trapped inside the bank and this has negatively impacted my daily activities.”
