(Osun) Two feared dead, 4 injured as church building collapses

In Ikirun, the administrative center of  Ifelodun Local Government Area in Osun State, a church building collapsed, killing two people and seriously injuring four more.

The owner of the building was reportedly one of the victims.

In the Eweta neighborhood of Ikirun, the church is thought to have collapsed at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Four other persons who have been identified as site employees were also trapped, according to Dayo, a local resident, before several neighbors managed to free them from the rubble.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), Mrs Kehinde Adeleke, said:

“A storey building being used as church collapsed on Wednesday at exactly 6:45 PM. The building is still under construction as workers are still working as at the time the building collapsed.

“Two women died this morning, one them is the owner of the building. Four people who were trapped under the debris are receiving treatment in hospital. All of them are in critical condition.”
