Unknown gunmen are said to have slain nine members of a local vigilante organization known as Yan Ba Beli in Gamji village in Bauchi State’s Ningi Local Government Area.
According to Platinum Times, the local vigilantes were ambushed last Sunday while searching the jungle for the criminals harassing Ningi towns.
A member of the area’s vigilantes, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, revealed that the bandits who prepared a well-planned ambush in the forest opened fire and overcame them, killing nine of them instantly and wounded others.
Hon. Ibrahim Zubairu Mato, the Caretaker Chairman of Ningi LGA, also verified the occurrence.
He promised that the government will continue to do everything in its power to protect innocent lives and property in the area.
As of the time of reporting this story, the spokesman for the State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, had not responded to texts or phone calls.
