(Zamfara) Gov. Lawal names Hajia Yaro ZIPA as SSG

Hajia Mariam Yaro has been appointed as the new Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Investment Promotion Agency (ZIPA) by Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal.
According to a statement issued by the Zamfara State government, Hajia Yaro comes from the state’s Maru Local Government Area and was previously the Head, Minimum Pension Guarantee Unit at the National Pension Commission in Abuja.
According to the release, Hajia Yaro led the Corporate Responsibility & SERVICOM Department’s SERVICOM Unit and later served on the Commission’s Ministerial SERVICOM Unit (MSU).
She was also in charge of the Commission’s Deceased Benefit Unit.
“Between February 1997 and August 2001, she held the post of Public Relations Officer at the Petroleum Equalisation Fund Management Board and later joined the Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, where she worked till April 2007 as a pioneer member of the Power Sector Reform Team, PSRT,” the statement went on to say.
She also helped to establish the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, or NERC.
She earned an Executive MBA from the London School of Business and Management in the United Kingdom and a Post-Graduate Diploma, PGD, in Public Relations and Advertising from the International Institute of Journalism.
The Zamfara Investment Promotion Agency was formed to attract both domestic and foreign investors to Zamfara State in order to increase economic viability and growth.
Despite being one of the poorest states in the country, Zamfara is thought to have a substantial concentration of mineral resources such as gold, iron ore, granite, limestone, and chromate, among others.
