Jubilation as troops kill popular bandit Ya’u in Bauchi

According to reports, members of the Nigerian Army’s 33 Brigade have killed the leader of a notorious bandit gang that has been terrorizing locals in Ningi Local Government Area, Bauchi State. 

At a crucial crossing point in Burra, Ningi, on Friday, the forces ambushed the powerful bandit known as Ya’u, killing him.

According to reports, Ya’u was the gang’s commander. This group is infamous for utilizing powerful weapons to terrorize the people of Burra and the nearby areas.

The group engaged in kidnapping for ransom and, in the worst cases, used violence if the demands for the ransom were not met.

The traditional chief of Kwajale village in Sumaila LGA, Kano State, had also been taken that day by the robbers.

In a statement issued on Saturday by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, the Nigerian Army officially acknowledged Ya’u’s passing.

According to the statement, the soldiers patiently waited for the bandits before firing upon them on the basis of actionable intelligence.

It was stated that one robber was killed and the rest fled after being shot, leaving blood stains as proof.

In addition, the soldiers seized an AK-47 gun, 14 live 7.62 mm bullets, a cellphone, and a fetish amulet from the bandit.
