Police have detained a man named Bem Matthew for fatally stabbing his wife in Korinya-City, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State.
The individual, according to Platinum Times, committed the act on Tuesday at 7:03 am.
While the body of the dead was being transported to the mortuary, neighbors stormed the scene of the tragedy and detained the suspect.
Eventually, men from the Konshisha Divisional Police Station were able to capture the offender.
When questioned at the police station, the suspect admitted killing his wife with a knife because she was no longer “submissive to him”.
The dead was stabbed in the rib, back, and thigh, according to an eyewitness who requested anonymity.
According to information obtained by Platinum Times, the man’s marriage to his wife produced four children.
The deceased’s remains were placed in the morgue at Korinya City’s Saint Joseph’s Clinic and Maternity.
The SP Catherine Anekwe, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, could not be reached for comment, thus attempts to elicit a response from them were unsuccessful.
