Kogi East: Appeal Court upholds Jibrin Isah’s election

On Thursday, the Court of Appeal upheld Jibrin Isah of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his election to the Senate, with the senatorial seat for Kogi East.
Isah was declared the victor of the Kogi East Senatorial District election by INEC, but Victor Adoji, the PDP candidate who finished second in the polls, challenged Isah’s return to the tribunal, claiming that several polling places had experienced election cancellations.
Adoji begged the tribunal to declare Isah’s victory invalid and to hold a new election in the senatorial district’s 94 impacted polling places.
The panel, presided over by Justice K.A. Orjiako, unanimously decided to conduct a rerun in 94 voting places that had anomalies during the previous general election.
That being said, Isah appealed the lower court’s ruling.
In its ruling on Thursday, the Court of Appeal overturned the tribunal’s decision and upheld the appellant’s triumph.
