(Plateau) PDP youths embark on massive protest over Appeal Court judgements

Following a large-scale demonstration on Wednesday, November 8, by irate PDP youths who took to the main thoroughfares to express their rage over Appeal Court rulings that declared PDP candidates’ elections invalid, tension descended upon Plateau state.

The teenagers gathered in large numbers at the Mararaban Jama’a roundabout, the All Airport junction, and the secretariat junction to hold a nonviolent protest against the Appellate Court’s contradictory rulings.

However, in order to be prepared for any situation that might emerge during the protest, a combination of Army and Police security agents were dispatched to key places.

However, in an attempt to disperse the protesting youngsters, the Army’s security officers engaged in combat with them throughout the parade, which left numerous people injured.

Our correspondent saw that throughout many hours, there was traffic disruption, which forced merchants to quickly stop their businesses as onlookers rushed to safety.

In an interview with our correspondent at the protest site, John Mark, the PDP youth leader, stated that the current rulings do not align with the people’s mandate, which is why we must initiate this nonviolent protest.

He said:

“The people gave their mandate but the judges are just dishing out judgment against the party,and that is what were protesting for in which we want the whole world to know of the injustices meted against the party.

Meanwhile, at the time of filling this reports, the situation has been brought under control as people go about their normal business activities.

Meanwhile, wild celebrations broke out also at mararaban Jama’a round about and All Airport Junction Jos as hundreds of APC supporters welcomed Appeal court judgments sacking PDP National Assembly members.

The appeal judges in their various judgements nullified the elections of Beni Lar, member representing Langtang North/South, Musa Bagos,member representing Jo’s South/East, Peter Gyengdeng, member representing Riyom/Barkin Ladi and Senator Napoleon Bali , Plateau South.
