BDC operator urges for coordinated action to stabilize the naira

Alhaji Murtala Bashir, managing director of 313 Bureau de Change, has emphasized the importance of concerted efforts to ensure the naira’s stability in the Nigerian foreign currency market.

Bashir made the plea in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.

He stated that the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should form an urgent committee to monitor and safeguard the stability of the naira in the foreign market.

He stated that the group should include officials from the federal government, the Central Bank of Nigeria, commercial banks, businesses, the Bureau de Change, the EFCC, and other security agencies.

According to him, the committee should be tasked with monitoring the FX market while also advising the government on any concerns encountered and coming up with a solution.

Bashir also praised the CBN for its efforts to keep the naira stable in the foreign market.

He went on to say that the next stage was to restore transparency and investor confidence if Nigeria was to unlock the dollar flows needed to support the naira.
