Kwara: Killers of hotel manager remanded in correctional facility

A Kwara Magistrate Court has remanded two alleged female armed robbers accused of killing Adeniyi Ojo, the managing director of the well-known Water View Hotel in Ilorin, at the correctional facility in Ilorin, Kwara State.
David Favour Oreoluwa, 23, and Joy Adanma Joseph, 21, were charged with culpable homicide and armed robbery and dragged before Magistrate Monisola Kamson.
According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), the suspects paid the MD a visit and proceeded into the hotel room together.
According to the police investigation, the ladies fled the facility without the MD, claiming to want bullet beverages from the garden across the hotel.
Abdulsalam Tawakalitu, the hotel receptionist who was suspicious of them, went to check on the MD in the room and discovered the door was shut.
After many unanswered knocks, the door was forced open, revealing the manager’s lifeless body on the bed, his hands and legs tied and his mouth gagged with a towel.
The two suspects allegedly proceeded to the deceased mobile phone, removed the SIM card, inserted it in theirs, and began making multiple attempts to transfer money from the MD bank account, but failed since the account demanded OTP (One Time Passport).
Joy, who was armed with a knife, codoline syrup, and rohypnol, a medicine used to induce sleep, gagged the deceased’s mouth, according to the investigation.
Adanma held the deceased’s manhood while his hands and legs were tied, threatening to cut it off if he did not obey.
Oreoluwa was reportedly assigned the chore of unlocking his phone through his face and then placing a pillow over his face and impressing it on him until he passed out.
According to the police investigation, Adanma confessed to stabbing the deceased with a knife, while Oreoluwa was tasked with unlocking the phone through the victim’s face.
Sanni Abdullah, the prosecutor, also informed the court that the case is not normally bailable due to the nature of the crime and the lives involved.
The case was adjourned to the 29th of this month by Magistrate Kamson, who presided over the proceedings.
