JUST IN: Gunmen reportedly attack Adamawa Police headquarters
Gunmen reportedly attacked the Adamawa State Police headquarters in the early hours of Wednesday, causing alarm among Yola residents.
The police station sits in the middle of the Jimeta community, in the Yola North Local Government Area.
SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer, acknowledged the attack to Daily Trust but claimed everything was under control.
The attack, according to Nguroje, was repulsed, but the identity of those responsible were unclear.
According to one source, the attackers were military members on a vengeance mission following the purported murder of a military officer by police.
If military troops were engaged, it could not be independently verified.
However, the article described police as adding that investigations into the motive of the attack and individuals responsible were underway.
