State House to spend N260m on electricity, N253m on foodstuffs

The Federal Government has budgeted N460,217,071 for the State House’s “Materials and Supplies” in the Appropriation Bill for 2024.

Food and catering items will consume N253,277,638 of the total.

Other subheadings include consumables, stationery, periodicals, and books, among others.

This is stated in the Appropriation Bill paper released on Wednesday by the Federation’s Budget Office.

According to the PUNCH, President Bola Tinubu presented the budget to a joint session of the National Assembly on November 29.

Tinubu dubbed the spending bill the “Budget of Renewed Hope.”

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has budgeted N260.8 million for the State House’s energy bill and N50 million for internet connection charges.

The budget indicated that N372m was set aside for Utilities, which includes electricity and internet connection fees.

Other utility bills include N4.4 million in telephone prices, N30 million in water rates, and N26 million in sewerage taxes.

The N217 million allocation for gasoline and lubricants at the State House was also announced in the 2024 budget.

According to the details, N148m is set aside for motor vehicle fuel costs, N37m for plant/generator fuel costs, and N31m for cooking gas.
