State House budgets N9.5bn for car tyres, SUVs, others

The State House has set aside N9.5 billion for the procurement of bulletproof vehicle tyres, SUVs, operating vehicles, plain automobiles, and the development of an office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.

N2 billion was set aside for the replacement of SUV vehicles, N4 billion for the purchase of State House operational vehicles, N351 million for the purchase of tyres for bulletproof vehicles, plain cars, jeeps, and ambulances, and N3.5 billion for the construction of SA and SSA office complexes.

The specifics are contained in the 2024 Appropriation Bill, which was released on Wednesday by the Federation’s Budget Office.

According to the PUNCH, President Bola Tinubu presented the budget to a joint session of the National Assembly on November 29.

Tinubu dubbed the spending bill the ‘Budget of Renewed Hope.’

According to Platinum Times, the Tinubu-led administration has come under fire for what experts have labeled “frivolous spending” by the political elite in the face of the suffering currently being experienced by Nigerians as a result of the elimination of gasoline subsidies.

Platinum Times previously revealed that the proposed 2024 Appropriation Bill under consideration by the National Assembly included N15.961 billion for Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and their aides’ international and domestic travel costs.

Tinubu’s travel budget is N7.630 billion, with N6.992 billion put aside for international travel and N638.535 million set up for local travel.

Shettima’s travel allowance is proposed to be N1.847 billion, divided into N1.229 billion for overseas trips and N618.399 billion for domestic travel.
