BREAKING: Gov. Fubara in closed door meeting with SEC, hours after 27 lawmakers decamped to APC

Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara has called an emergency meeting of the State Executive Council.

The conference is being held in the Government House in the state capital of Port Harcourt.

Fubara summoned the conference after 27 members of the 32-member House of Assembly defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.

During a House session, the lawmakers abandoned the PDP in favor of the APC.

In a group photo taken following the meeting, the parliamentarians were seen waving APC flags.

Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have been at odds over the party’s structure in the state.
