JUST IN: Rivers crisis deepens as 2 commissioners dump Gov Fubara’s govt

Two additional commissioners from the Rivers state executive council have resigned.

They are Dr George-Kelly Alabo, the Commissioner for Works and a close supporter of former Governor Nyesom Wike, and Mrs Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma, his equivalent in the Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation.

Alabo, who served as Wike’s Works Commissioner, stated in a letter dated December 14 and written to Governor Siminalayi Fubara through the Secretary to the State Government that he resigned based on the dictates of his conscience.

In the letter titled,‘Resignation as Honourable Commissioner For Works, Rivers State, he wrote, “My decision to resign is anchored on my conscience, personal philosophy, and professional ethics. This decision was taken after deep introspection.”

He thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve.

Alabo and Chinwenwo-Aguma’s resignation came hours after the state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Prof Zacchaeus Adangor resigned his position.
