Labour Party has dropped its petition opposing Fubara’s election – Itubo

The LP had disputed Fubara’s victory in the election, but the Appeal Court in Lagos dismissed its appeal and upheld Fubara’s victory.
However, Beatrice Itubo, the LP’s governorship candidate in the election, stated that the matter had been dismissed.
She stated this in an interview with Channels Television on Saturday at her Ogbakiri country home in Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State. According to her, the decision was made after discussions with Governor Fubara, and she also pledged her support for the existing administration in order for the state to thrive.
The alliance between Fubara and Itubo is the latest scheme in Rivers State politics amid the state’s political crisis.
While Itubo had vowed to follow the election petition to its logical conclusion, claiming that the governorship election process was rigged, LP’s most recent move is thought to be related to tensions between the Governor and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
