According to the Presidency, Godwin Emefiele, the immediate past Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, would have faced a firing squad if he were from China.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, claimed Emefiele and his gangs committed gross misappropriation that would not be tolerated in China.
Onanuga was responding to the report Special Investigation on CBN and Related Entities, Chargeable Offenses.
According to Jim Obazee’s research, Emefiele misappropriated monies while serving as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
According to the report, the former CBN governor opened bank accounts without the permission of the apex bank’s Board of Directors or Investment Committee.
According to the study, Emefiele unlawfully deposited billions of naira in 593 bank accounts in the US, UK, and China.
Obazee revealed that Emefiele put £543,482,213 in fixed deposits in UK banks on his own without permission.
