Plateau killings: Bandits on a mission to take our land – Ex Governor

Former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang has stated that bandits who invaded various towns in the state on Christmas Eve were on a cleansing mission to take over the land.

Jang, in a statement issued on Saturday by his media consultant Clinton Garuba, claimed the attack was planned by persons who are hell-bent on denying the ordinary Plateau man the serenity God has bestowed on him via nature.

The former governor reiterated the importance of the Federal Government responding to the call for state police as part of steps to reduce insecurity, ensure early response in crises, and confront Plateau killings.

According to him, the crimes appear to have continued uninterrupted because the failure to arrest and prosecute criminals has emboldened serial killers to carry out additional homicides.

Jang, who expressed his condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the attack, stated that the situation breaks his heart.

“States should be given the power to create, train and equip their police to enable State Governors to deal with peculiar security situations in their various states.

“More than ever, the time to heed the call for state policing is now. The National Assembly must take this call seriously and rise to the occasion, act in the interest of the Plateau people and consider the issue as a matter of urgent importance,” he said.
