Troops airstrikes neutralize scores of fighters, sacks ISWAP leader Ba’a Shuwa

During a significant attack in the North East of Borno, the Nigerian military reportedly eliminated the Nigerian leader of the Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP, Ba’a Shuwa, and hundreds of his men.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, revealed this in a post on X on Friday.

Shuwa was appointed in 2021 after Abubakar Shekau committed suicide, and he controlled terrorists at Chiralia, Markas Kauwa, Abirma, Buk, Abulam, Dusula, Abbagajiri, Gorgore, and many more camps in the Timbuktu and Alagarno axis in southern Borno.

According to the security expert, the destructive airstrikes carried out on January 2, 2024 against Kwatan Dilla in Abadam LGA of Borno State resulted in the death of Ba’a Shuwa and dozens of his fighters.
He went on to say that the exploitation following the operation showed footage of scores eliminating hostile units and equipment.
The security expert also listed Khaid Hanzala, Ba’a Idirisa, Rawana, Abou Ibrahim, Mallam Abubakar, Abou Aisha, and Abou Khalid, who was responsible for the latest attack on the electricity towers along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway.
Ba’a Shuwa and his terrorist cells are primarily responsible for attacks, ambushes, and IED/mines on Damboa highways, Damaturu-Maiduguri, Askira, Buratai, Buni Yadi, Buni Gari, Gaidam, and other areas in Borno and Yobe States.
