Meet Hassan Imam, new Keystone Bank CEO

According to Platinum Times, Hassan Imam was chosen as the new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Keystone Bank by the Central Bank of Nigeria on Thursday morning.
Imam succeeds Olaniran Olayinka, who led the commercial bank from March 2020 until Wednesday, when the CBN dissolved the boards of Keystone Bank and two other banks.
Imam has over 25 years of banking expertise and has held a variety of managerial positions during his career.
Imam was the Executive Director for the North Region at Fidelity Bank from January 2020 till his appointment as CEO. In that role, he oversaw Fidelity Bank’s commercial, SME, consumer, and public sector operations in 19 Northern Nigerian states, including Abuja.
Imam joined FSB International Bank in 1998, which merged with Fidelity Bank in 2005.
He held numerous leadership positions in Fidelity, including commercial banking, consumer banking, SME, and risk management.
During his long career at Fidelity, the new Keystone Bank CEO progressed from General Manager to Board of Directors.
Hassan Imam received his bachelor’s degree in economics before going on to get two master’s degrees, including an MBA. He is a certified accountant who has taken executive programs at Harvard Business School, Wharton, and other prestigious universities.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration, an Associate Member of the Chartered Public Accountants, a graduate of Oxford University and Pan-Atlantic University, and a Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Nigeria.
