Nigerian first female Major-General, Aderonke Kale laid to rest in Ogun

The late female Major General Kale died on November 8, 2023, at the age of 84.

The late Major General Aderonke Kale (retd.), the first female to hold such a rank, was put to rest at St James Anglican Church in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, South West Nigeria.

Lieutenant General Toareed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, praised the late general for leading an excellent life worthy of admiration, saying she would be missed.

The Army Chief, represented by Major General Gbeminga Adesina, Commander of the Corps of Signal, stated that the death of Late General Kale was a major loss to the Nigerian Army and the country as a whole.

According to him, the late general was committed and dedicated to serving the nation, and she rose through the ranks of the Nigerian army.

The service of songs and tribute night took place on January 16, 2024, at Admiralty Conference Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, while the wake was held in Chapel of the Resurrection Hall, University of Ibadan.

The General Officer Commanding of the Nigerian Army’s 2nd Division, as well as other Senior Officers and Commanders, attended the burial.
