Kano Court remands two for robbery

Sadiq Isma’il, 20, and Fahad Gambo, 26, were remanded on Monday by a Kano Senior Magistrates’ Court after allegedly stealing a family of N25 million in goods.
The defendants are on trial for three counts of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and illegal possession of restricted firearms.
Senior Magistrate Hajara Hamza, who did not hear the defendants’ pleas because her court lacked jurisdiction, ordered their custody in a penitentiary facility.
Hamza ordered that the case file be duplicated and a copy forwarded to the State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice, and deferred the matter until March 4 for further consideration.
The police prosecutor, ASP Haziel Lidapuwa, had previously informed the court that the defendants committed the crimes on December 24, 2023, in Sharada Quarters in Kano.
He claimed that on the date, about 3:30 a.m., the defendants colluded with Usman Sunusi and Nafiu Umar, both of whom are still at large, and stormed the quarters with two English pistols and a sharp knife.
He claimed that the offenses violated sections 97 and 298 of Kano State’s Penal Code Law and Section 3 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act 2014 Cap Rll LFN, as amended.
