Protest: Gbajabiamila, Ribadu, ministers meets behind closed doors in Aso Villa

Hours after protests erupted in various states throughout the country, the President’s Chief of Staff, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and other ministers are now meeting behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting, which began at 5:30 p.m., was also attended by the Ministers of Education (Dr. Tahir Mamman), Finance (Wale Edun), Agriculture (Abubakar Kyari), and State for Agriculture (Mustapha Shehuri).

Tuesday’s rally comes after angry youths and women marched through Minna and Kano to protest what they characterized as the country’s growing cost of living.

A group of ladies reportedly blocked the ever-busy Minna-Bida Road at the iconic Kpakungu Roundabout in Niger, calling for President Bola Tinubu’s administration to address the problem of ‘hunger in the land.’

Security forces attempted to disperse the protest by shooting tear gas canisters into the throng and making some arrests, but the mob resisted.

Additional information will be provided shortly.
