On Saturday evening, two herders were shot dead and 223 cows were rustled by bandits in Haying-Dam, Kachia local government area, Kaduna State.
The robbers were claimed to have attacked three herder camps in the vicinity using AK-47 rifles.
The incident, Platinum Times learnt, happened on Saturday, around 6pm when the bandits first attacked the camp of one Alhaji Ibrahim Yabari and rustled 123 cows, before they proceeded to the second camp and took away 100 cows.
According to a source, “one of the bandits opened fire and killed two herders when they were trying to resist them from rustling the cows.”
The source explained that troops who were stationed at neighboring Janjala village, later came to the community and were still on the trail of the bandits.
DSP Mansur Hassan, the spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, when contacted, did not answer calls put to his mobile phone.
