The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) Ilorin Zonal Command detained 48 suspected online fraudsters and a herbalist in Lokoja, Kogi State, on charges of conspiracy and acquiring under false pretense.
On Tuesday, credible intelligence led to the arrests of the individuals at several locations in Lokoja.
The herbalist, who is thought to be the spiritual godfather of the online fraudsters, was apprehended with a variety of fetish artifacts.
According to a statement signed by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, items collected from the suspects include ten exotic cars, two motorcycles, eleven laptop computers, 83 mobile phones, and charms.
Oyewale stated that the suspects, all males aged 17 to 34, will be arraigned in court after investigations are completed.
