Fear grip as gunmen murder chorister in Edo

Mr. Success, a chorister of a Pentecostal church, was fatally murdered by suspected shooters last Sunday.
According to Platinum Times, the incident occurred at 8 a.m. that tragic day.
It was said that the church is located near Murtala Mohammed Way in Benin City.
It was also alleged that the deceased and other believers were taking their Sunday school lessons when the attackers attacked the chapel.
Platinum Times learned that the victim received a phone call and exited the church hall, presumably to respond to the caller.
A witness, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, stated that as soon as the victim stepped out, one of the perpetrators grabbed him by the waist inside the church.
According to him, in the ensuing chaos, Success was wrestled to the ground, and another assailant emerged and shot him.
“The gunmen thereafter collected his (success) mobile phone before fleeing the scene.
“The incident reportedly threw the worshippers into confusion and wailing.
“All efforts to revive the victim was unsuccessful as he was pronounced dead at a private medical facility he was rushed to for medicare,” he said.
Spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the incident, said investigation is on to arrest the perpetrators.
