Lagos govt commence demolition of illegal constructions in Lekki
The Lagos State Government has begun demolishing all unlawful structures and shanties in the state’s Lekki district, including the Jakande Estate and Maiyegun.
Tokunbo Wahab, the state’s Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, made the announcement in a post on his official X Twitter.
The Commissioner posted a video clip from the scene where a structure is being demolished.
Captioning the video, Wahab wrote, “Lagos State Government this morning began the removal of all illegal structures and shanties built around Jakande Estate and Maiyegun, Lekki.
“This enforcement is geared towards reclaiming the coastal road alignment for the Lagos – Calabar Highway project of the Federal Government, and the urban regeneration of the area.”
