Late Thursday evening, suspected ritualists murdered a 2-year-old girl and removed some of her body parts in Bauchi’s Ningi LGA.
The 2-year-old girl’s mutilated body, missing both eyes and her vagina, was discovered in Ningi township days after her parents declared her missing.
According to reports, Maryam Danlami, a two-year-old, was missing for two days before her mangled body was discovered abandoned along a path in Ningi.
Her parents live in Sabuwar Denawa, Ningi township, but learned of the girl’s death from some Almajiri boys who attend a Qur’anic school nearby.
The incident was reported to Ningi police, who responded quickly and removed Maryam’s mangled body to the General Hospital in Ningi for medical inspection and confirmation of her death, as determined by a medical doctor.
As of Saturday, no arrests had been made, but efforts were on to track out the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Meanwhile, Maryam’s mangled body has been buried in accordance with Islamic tradition.
