Ex-Oyo motor park boss, Auxiliary remanded in prison custody
On Thursday, an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State’s capital, remanded Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, the former Chairman of the state’s Park Management System, to the Agodi Correctional Centre on charges of murder.
Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted the remand order for the 63-year-old defendant, citing jurisdictional reasons.
In June 2023, Auxillary, after he was declared wanted told the state police command that it was wrong to do so.
Ogunkanmi, on Thursday, thereafter, adjourned the matter till July 11, for mention.
Represented by Mr Tope Olayinka, the defendant faced a four-count charge including conspiracy, causing death, and stealing.
Officer-in-Charge of the Legal Department at the Oyo State Command, CSP Funke Fawole, informed the court that Lamidi, along with others who are currently at large, allegedly conspired to commit the stated offences.
Fawole said, “On June 16, 2021, at about 3.30 p.m., Lamidi and others now at large allegedly caused the death of one Azeez Rahman Abiodun, 36, by stabbing him with a knife in the chest.
“On June 16, 2021, the defendant and others allegedly conspired and stole assorted phones valued at N150m, property of Azeez Hammed Adebayo.”
The offences, she said, were committed at Baba-Onilu Shopping Complex, Iwo Road area of Ibadan.
She added that the offences were contrary to Sections 383 and 316 and punishable under Sections 319, l1l, 390 (9), 324 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
