Benue Killings: Gov Alia express shock, reveals action plan

Benue State governor, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia as expressed shock over the gruesome murder of at least 24 citizens of Akpuuna village, Mbazun, Mbaterem in Ukum Local Government Area of the state.

Assailants thought to be terrorists entered the community on Saturday, murdering roughly 24 people and badly injuring many more, according to Platinum Times.

When visiting the scene on Tuesday, Governor Alia expressed his utter outrage at the situation, stressing that such behavior is not acceptable in Benue State.

The governor asserts that he wants to lead a new Benue and that he would not put up with anything that may depress the people’s spirits or damage the state’s new reputation.

Alia gave the local kids advice to follow the law and stay away from activities that could cause problems for them and their communities.

He continued by saying that there were plans to reintegrate the angry members of the group into society and offer them soft landings so they could grow into independent individuals.

The governor also issued a warning that any traditional leader who is found to be lacking in his performance of his duties will be viewed as a misfit and have his beads taken off.
