Fuel Subsidy: Gov. Diri launches transport vehicles in Bayelsa

The governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has introduced a new transportation program as part of efforts to lessen the pain of commuters brought on by the elimination of gasoline subsidies.
The governor said that the effort was his administration’s attempt to enhance the transportation sector during the launch of 100 taxis and six luxury buses on Wednesday at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall premises, Yenagoa.
As we introduce this fleet of transportation vehicles to ease our people’s suffering, it is another historic day.
“Now, we have taxis that will run within the city of Yenagoa and its environs to the Niger Delta University at Amassoma, to the airport and the Federal University, Otuoke, and other towns,” he stated.
When giving the Bayelsa State Transport Company’s General Manager, Chief Timi Fanama, the keys to the vehicles, Governor Diri advised the management to make good use of the vehicles to improve the transportation system, according to Vanguard.
Fanama urged the young people to take advantage of the program and consider driving as a career.
