Kano mourns as 2 former Commissioners die in 3 Days interval
In the last three days, Kano State has lost two former commissioners who served under Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s administration.
The commissioners for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as well as Budget and Economic Planning, Alhassan Muhammad Dawaki and Barrister Zubaida Damakka, passed away on Friday.
Dawaki, who had 15 children and 15 spouses, passed away at the age of 79 after a brief illness.
She passed away in Abuja following a brief illness, according to a friend of the late Damakka who is a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Media named Abubakar Aminu Ibrahim. She is survived by a husband and three children.
On Sunday, Kano held their funeral prayers in accordance with Islamic customs.
Ibrahim Garba Shu’aibu, the Deputy Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, described Dawaki as a well-known and respected individual whose untimely death had left a vacuum in the hearts of many.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf lamented the enormous loss that Dawaki’s passing signified and prayed for the enduring fortitude and comfort of the bereaved family during the trying time of grief.
