Police arrest two teenagers for allegedly stealing infant in Bauchi

Two teens have been detained by the Bauchi State Police Command for reportedly stealing a baby girl.
The suspects, Hajara Usman (19) of Ishehi Hamlet and Ibrahim Usman’m’ of Dugurgama Hamlet, were accused of breaking into the mother’s apartment after she gave delivery and taking the child with them.
When one Adamu Baka (55 years old) of the Galawa neighborhood in the Akuyam district of the Misau local government region reported at the Akuyam outstation on Tuesday, July 23, 2023, that unidentified individuals broke into his daughter’s residence and fled with her baby, the police reportedly learned of the kidnapping.
The Command’s spokesman, SP. Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said in a statement provided to journalists on Thursday that “on receipt of the report, a team of detectives were immediately mobilized and earnestly swung into action and eventually arrested the hoodlums.”
The baby was found in the possession of Hajara Usman, age 19, of Ishehi Hamlet, who conspired to kidnap the child with Ibrahim Usman, age 18, of Dugurgama Hamlet.
According to the statement, the investigation is still ongoing in order to determine the hidden motivations behind the act, and once it is complete, the suspects will be identified and charged in court.
