Consider bicycles for movement – FG urges Nigerians

Nigerians have been advised by the Federal Ministry of Transportation to think about using bicycles as a substitute form of transportation.

At the stakeholders sensitization meeting in Abuja, Musa Ibrahim, the Director of the Road Transport and Mass Transit Administration, made this statement.

The director stressed the value of cycling in the nation by pointing out that it will undoubtedly lower the frequency of traffic accidents.

Ibrahim added that “World Bicycle Day recognises the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle as a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transport, fostering environmental stewardship and health”, Platinum Times Nigeria reports.

“Equally, proponents have encouraged the use of bicycles as a means of eradicating poverty, strengthening physical education, promoting health, and facilitating social inclusion”, the director stated.
